Ugborough PTA
Welcome to Ugborough Primary School PTA
We are fortunate at our school to have a PTA that’s an integral part of the school community, who work hard to raise much needed funds to enhance our children’s educational experience and the school’s facilities. Like most PTAs, our funds are raised through the events that we run. Our events include the popular Christmas Shop and raffle, Easter Tea and raffle, School Discos, Harvest Raffle, Quiz night, Pimms stall at the village fair, mufti days and cake sales.
Donations from parents are very important to us, and we are grateful for any time, money, items for sale, raffle prizes or offers of services and skills that you can donate.
The PTA committee are responsible for deciding how our PTA funds are spent. The School Leadership Team often provide a ‘wish list’ of items that the school would like us to consider funding. Funds are typically spent on the ‘extras’ that are not provided by the school’s budget, thus making our children’s learning experiences so much more fulfilling and exciting.
Over the past years we have been able to provide funding for laptop computers, maths equipment, wet play equipment, books for the school library, funding for school trips, cookery lessons and forest school sessions, something which all children very much look forward to and enjoy. It is our hope that with your support we can continue.
Our association is about much more than fundraising, we also aim to provide closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. It’s fun too - just ask any of the Committee members or volunteers.
All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available. All families are welcome and encouraged to participate in the PTA when their child joins our school.
The Committee meet on a regular basis, usually at least once a term, more often when we are planning larger events.
All parents are very much welcome to come along to meetings, to find out what the association are planning, share ideas and get involved.
Volunteers
We welcome any help from parents, teachers and friends, and have a list of volunteers who commit some of their time to helping the association. Every little helps, so just one hour of your time assisting at an event would be invaluable, whether it be wrapping presents at the Christmas shop, folding raffle tickets or serving at the Easter Tea (just a few examples). If you would like to join us please speak to a committee member, come along to our next meeting or email us – ugboroughpta@gmail.com
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Our Annual General Meeting is held in October and provides an excellent opportunity for all parents to come along and hear in more detail about our work, the events we have run, the funds we have raised and how the money has been spent. It is also when we elect our new committee members.
How we keep you up to date
We aim to send home a termly newsletter with the children, which includes information on upcoming events and dates as well as details of any help we are looking for at events.
We also have a noticeboard in the playground where you’ll find all our posters and news, in addition, please keep an eye out for text reminders from school and notices in the Friday Flyer.
If you would like to join our Whatsapp Helpers Group, please let a committee member know or email us at ugboroughpta@gmail.com
